What does the “C'est rigolo hein !!!” meme mean?
The line is used with heavy irony to point out that a situation is actually not funny at all, said with an exaggerated laugh that contradicts the real, often awkward or annoyed mood. It works as a mocking comment on a joke that falls flat or an embarrassing scene, copying the fake laugh from the original sketch. People repeat it to parody someone forcing a laugh through a situation that is anything but fun.
Where does the “C'est rigolo hein !!!” meme come from?
The line comes from sketches aired on “Morning Live,” a chaotic morning show launched on French channel TF1 in the early 2000s and fronted by Michaël Youn, then a young host and comedian. The show leaned on eccentric characters and running gags, shot handheld in a deliberately messy style. “C'est rigolo hein!!!” was shouted there with a forced, over-the-top laugh typical of the show's goofy tone, which marked a whole generation of early-morning French viewers. The line kept circulating long after the show ended, resurfacing in clips and video edits that kept it tied to the character and his distinctive fake laugh.
