TCG memes are the memes born around trading card games: Pokémon, Magic, the Uno Reverse card, the booster packs people open on camera. In MyMemeCards, they became cards themselves: 59 cards of the catalog are about card games.
The best-known TCG memes
Here are the card game memes of the catalog, with the text of their card. Click a name to read where the meme comes from.
- Pokémon: Nintendo's 1996 monster-catching phenomenon spawned anime, cards, films, and endless fan art. Gotta catch 'em all—and remix 'em online too.
- Who's That Pokémon?: A silhouette bumper from the Pokémon show became a punchline machine. The joke: guess the Pokémon, but it's actually something unrelated, random, or absurd. Since 1997, this exploitable never stops surprising.
- Uno Reverse Card: A game card that reverses turn order became internet shorthand for comebacks since 2018. Caught in an argument? Play the card and flip the script.
- Celebrity Pokemon Evolutions: Celebrity Pokémon Evolutions are a series of images that display a celebrity, or several celebrities, accompanied by the evolutionary lineage of a character from the Pokémon franchise.
- Magic: The Gathering: Wizards battle as "planewalkers" casting spells and summoning creatures in Wizards of the Coast's 1993 collectible card game. MTG became a cultural touchstone for strategy and fantasy.
- Divorced Dads Trading Cards: A comedian created fictional trading cards celebrating divorced dad stereotypes. Videos of him opening booster packs went so viral he made actual cards to sell.
- Scottish Pokémon Trainer: Gloria from Pokémon Sword and Shield (2019) got absolutely roasted by the internet with a heavy Scottish accent. Iconic disaster.
- Pokemon Shaming: Illustrations of Pokémon holding up confession signs about their funny flaws—styled after dog shaming photos. Each Pokémon admits to something ridiculous that matches its abilities.
