What does the “Ça sent bon cette histoire” meme mean?
The phrase draws on the common figurative meaning of "it smells good," which implies that matters are looking up. Adding "in this story" specifies the context. It usually expresses optimism tinged with irony: the event gives good reason to hope for a positive result, but one remains cautious. It validates a trend while keeping critical distance, typical in digital exchanges where users decode early signs of success or a twist.
Where does the “Ça sent bon cette histoire” meme come from?
The exact origin of the meme "It smells good in this story" is unknown. No original video, show, specific platform, or creation date has been identified. A documented occurrence appears in a YouTube video by Joyca titled "TIK TOK M’A FAIT ACHETER ÇA ! (j’y croyais pas) #7," published on June 16, 2024. The transcript contains the phrase, but it is unclear if this is the source or a reuse. It should not be confused with JuL’s song "Ça sent bon," released on June 19, 2020, nor its July 17, 2020 music video; no connection exists between these musical contents and the meme. The formula relies on standard French figurative usage without a verifiable single creator.
