Where does the “« Ça va être tout noir ! »” meme come from?
The quote comes from the comedy film « RRRrrrr!!! », directed by Alain Chabat and released in France in January 2004. The context is that of a primitive tribe where characters communicate essentially through grunts. In this specific scene, one individual desperately tries to warn his group that a situation will deteriorate (« it's going to be all black! »). Each time he says this, he is answered systematically with an imperative « Shut up! ». This repetitive mechanism highlights total misunderstanding between community members. The scene was quickly isolated on the Internet due to its simple and punchy dialogic structure. It became a viral meme, exploiting the absurdity of primitive communication to illustrate modern situations of weariness.
