Where does the “Calma calma” meme come from?
This meme originates directly from video footage of the Liga match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid played on April 21, 2012, at Camp Nou. Cristiano Ronaldo, playing for Madrid, scored the winning goal securing a two-one victory. Immediately after his strike, he turned toward the stands filled with Barcelona supporters. By lowering both hands palms down, he signaled them to calm down. The term 'Calma' corresponds to the imperative for calm in Portuguese and Spanish.
