What does the “Regenerate” meme mean?
This satirical format exposes the absurdity or danger of pseudo-scientific discourses. By juxtaposing radical alternative health methods with criminal charges, it critiques gurus who sell dreams at the expense of science. The dominant emotion is skepticism toward self-proclaimed saviors.
Where does the “Regenerate” meme come from?
The meme centers on Thierry Casasnovas, founder of the 'Regenerate' association and YouTube channel. He promotes crudivism, raw fruit and vegetable juices, and fasting as miracle cures, including for cancer. A 2014 video titled 'Do you “have” cancer?' illustrates these views. The meme context emerged in March 2023 when Casasnovas was indicted for breach of trust, illegal medical practice, and deceptive commercial practices. The card combines his extreme health advice with this stark legal reminder.
