What does the “Cats vs. Printers” meme mean?
The phrase captures the absurdity of a daily unequal conflict between a curious pet and a noisy technological object. It expresses the shared frustration of owners facing their felines' unpredictable behavior, turning a mundane situation into a hilarious spectacle where cat fear mixes with machine malfunction.
Where does the “Cats vs. Printers” meme come from?
The phenomenon is attributed to a video posted on April 23, 2006, on YouTube by Azahara Carreras León. In this clip, her cat Marcus tears up a sheet coming out of an HP Deskjet printer. Two days later, user choucrouto posts another video showing an orange cat plunging its paw into a printing printer. The original platform is YouTube. The expression does not denote a single work but a category of compiled videos, such as one noted in 2012 featuring aggressive or curious cats facing the machine's noise.
