What does the “Cicciobello” meme mean?
The slogan reflects the doll’s dependence on the child’s care in the advertisement. Used humorously, it can describe a person or situation that keeps demanding attention, borrowing the ad’s affectionate, repetitive tone. Online versions also echo or parody the sequence of care before its closing line. The source does not identify the person speaking in the ad.
Where does the “Cicciobello” meme come from?
The meme comes from a French commercial for the Cicciobello Bobo baby doll, not from an identified comedy video or television show. The earliest version found was uploaded to YouTube by Giochi Preziosi France on September 18, 2012. It shows someone caring for the doll, which is portrayed as ill, through a series of treatments ending with an injection. The scene closes with the line “he always needs you.” Later commercials reused the scenario: PubTélé posted a television-format version on November 18, 2020, and Smyths Toys France released another promotional video on November 4, 2022. Online, the catchphrase is shared alongside recitations or parodies of the ad’s sequence. The source does not establish a separate origin for the meme on another platform.
