What does the “Eglandine et Prunelle” meme mean?
The meme points to a scene from Eglandine’s early-2010s tutorial videos, a French creator famous for tackling makeup, hair, and lifestyle topics with an earnest, over-the-top energy. People use it to poke gentle fun at someone trying way too hard, at a tutorial gone wrong delivered with total seriousness, or simply to wax nostalgic about the scrappier, homemade feel of early YouTube before everything got polished.
Where does the “Eglandine et Prunelle” meme come from?
Eglandine started posting goofy how-to videos in the early 2010s - makeup, hairstyling, even a mermaid transformation - shot with a comic earnestness that clashed with the homemade production. She crossed paths with Natoo, another defining creator of that YouTube generation, in a joint video that helped her name travel further. The “Eglandine et Prunelle” duo comes from one of those videos, later resurfaced by nostalgia accounts that dig up old clips to turn them into memes. The scene kept circulating long after its original upload, carried by that wave of nostalgia for the platform’s earliest, rougher years.
