The tone stays light, somewhere between a supporter's joke and self-mockery over an old rivalry.
Where does the “Noooo not the English” meme come from?
The sporting rivalry between France and England, in both football and rugby, is long-standing and regularly covered by sports media in both countries whenever the two teams meet. This rivalry feeds a supporter folklore where England is portrayed as a particularly feared opponent, capable of upsetting predictions or delivering tough matches.
