Where does the “It’s a disgrace” meme come from?
On 6 May 2009, Chelsea and FC Barcelona drew 1-1 in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final. After the game Chelsea striker Didier Drogba turned on the officiating in front of a camera, saying “it’s a fucking disgrace”. Uploads of the clip mention three penalties that were not given to Chelsea. According to video descriptions, the footage was aired live by Sky Sports, and it has since been reposted by many channels, remaining one of the most quoted moments in Champions League history. It is now reused as a meme.
