The line captures a burst of confidence about a promising encounter. Its humor comes from the contrast between Jean-Claude Dusse’s certainty and his repeated failures as an awkward would-be seducer. People reuse it to announce that an evening or an attempt is finally going to succeed, either sincerely or with a wink. It also works as a knowingly overconfident reaction to an opportunity that seems full of promise.

Jean-Claude Dusse, played by Michel Blanc, says the line in Les Bronzés font du ski, a film directed by Patrice Leconte and released on November 22, 1979.
