Jacques Chirac, born in 1932 and who died in 2019, served as President of France from May 17, 1995, to May 16, 2007, after having already served twice as Prime Minister in previous decades. The line is tied to his post-election speech in 1995, the moment he stated his intention to represent the presidential office for all citizens beyond the divisions of the vote.
