In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “KFC de Châteauroux” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 5417 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3502 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “KFC de Châteauroux” meme mean?
The meme turns an ordinary compliment into a solemn verdict: saying you “ate really well” at a provincial fast-food place becomes a mark of wisdom. People bring it out to celebrate a simple meal, to mock an over-earnest food opinion, or to mention a modest birthday outing. The gap between the grand-sage tone given to Matthieu Meriot and the plainness of the chain is what makes it funny, and Châteauroux adds the flavor of a mid-sized town far from trendy addresses.
Where does the “KFC de Châteauroux” meme come from?
The meme comes from one of Matthieu Meriot’s TikToks. In the video he explains that he ate very well at the KFC in Châteauroux, for the birthday of one of his friends. The clip then circulated as a running joke, to the point that just naming the restaurant and the town recalls his story. Viewers cast him as a great sage of fast food, which feeds the solemn, parodic tone. The video’s publication date is not established.
