In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Le réveil à la Pogba” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1429 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Le réveil à la Pogba” meme mean?
The meme stages a wake-up call as joyful as it is insistent. The “toc toc” knocks set the tempo, the instrumental raises the mood, and the person being pulled out of bed has no chance of falling back asleep. People use it to announce they are about to wake a friend, to caption an overly lively morning, or to act out a little door-knocking ritual. It conveys locker-room good humor with a playful, lively touch.
Where does the “Le réveil à la Pogba” meme come from?
The scene brings together two French internationals: midfielder Paul Pogba, who knocks, and defender Patrice Evra, born on 15 May 1981 in Dakar, who wore the French shirt at Euro 2008, 2012 and 2016 and at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. In the video, Pogba goes to wake Evra by banging on his room door with the France team, and the knocks are synced to a “Logobi” instrumental, turning the scene into a small piece of music. Many channels reposted it, sometimes under the title “Pogba knocking on the door with music”, before the sound became the base for remixes and edits.
