What does the “Carbonara-Tuning” meme mean?
The joke rests on the sound similarity between “carbon”, the lightweight material used in car tuning, and “carbonara”, the Italian pasta dish. People use it to gently tease a recurring slip of the tongue, or to jokingly refer to a carbon part during a conversation between gamers. It also works as a shorthand for this specific running gag without needing to re-explain it every time.
Where does the “Carbonara-Tuning” meme come from?
Streamer LPN05 regularly modifies cars in online racing games, adding carbon-fiber parts to lighten the vehicle or boost its performance. Instead of pronouncing “carbon” correctly, he calls these parts “carbonara”, after the Roman pasta dish made with egg, pecorino and guanciale. The mix-up, repeated across several tuning videos, amused his community, who picked up the word themselves whenever carbon parts came up. The term became a recognizable inside joke among viewers of his racing-game sessions.
