What does the “Getrocknete Bananen” meme mean?
The humour lies in hammering on a very ordinary food. “Getrocknete Bananen” points to a strange whim, a line repeated endlessly or a phrase that sticks in your head for no reason. It cuts short an overly serious talk or revives a running joke among Swiss German friends. Its simplicity also makes it ideal remix material: just repeat the words to a beat.
Where does the “Getrocknete Bananen” meme come from?
A YouTube video in the “SWISSMEME” series is titled “Getrocknete Bananen” and gathers the clip. Another upload, “getrocknete Bananen Remix - Gangnam Style”, proves that web users set the phrase to music. The filming context, the people involved and the date are not given on those pages.
