Where does the “Mopongo” meme come from?
At a Socialist Party rally in Mérida in 2026, minister María Jesús Montero delivered a sharp «me opongo» aimed at opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The line, delivered with an intensity that lent itself to caricature, was quickly remixed online: a techno remix, the nickname «Señor Mopongo» and video edits multiplied on TikTok, turning a political soundbite into a meme shared well beyond the usual Spanish political circles.
