In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Uuuh cursed cat” is a rare card of the Russian Memes pack, number 127 of the collection, and the 40th best-known meme of its 300 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Uuuh cursed cat” meme mean?
The meme points at an image that feels both funny and a bit uncomfortable, “cursed” in the internet sense: not really scary, not really cute, just strange enough to feel off. People use it to react to a weird photo or situation, to describe a visual they are not sure how to take, or to comically overplay their own disgust or confusion at something absurd. The cat’s stretched, slightly aggressive shout reinforces that played-up, rather than real, sense of unease.
Where does the “Uuuh cursed cat” meme come from?
A photo of a cat with a fixed stare and a frozen posture, paired with a caption mimicking a distorted shout close to a softened version of a Russian swear, began circulating on the Runet from 2019. The image belongs to the “cursed image” family, visuals deliberately made unsettling or badly framed that had already spread internationally, here adapted with a cat and a typically Russian caption. It spread across Russian-language social media as a ready-made reaction to any strange image, the cat becoming a symbol of comic unease rather than a specifically identified animal.
