In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “On est pas des bougs bg bg” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 2248 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3514 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “On est pas des bougs bg bg” meme mean?
The line is said with a bored, provocative air: a long “Oooooh”, then “we don’t care, we’re not [bougs], bg bg”. It voices an exaggerated nonchalance. The speaker rises above the argument, plays the tough guy and shows a confidence that borders on absurd. “Bg” is French slang short for “beau gosse”, a friendly or ironic interjection, and “savage” describes a no-filter attitude. People use it to shut down criticism, to strike a hard-man pose among friends, or to caption a scene in which someone plays the indifferent card.
Where does the “On est pas des bougs bg bg” meme come from?
The phrase presents itself as a spoken line, introduced by a stretched “Oooooh” that gives it its rhythm. The card ties it to the “Savage” spirit, an English word used in slang for a bold, unrestrained attitude. It circulates mostly as an audio clip and as a caption placed under videos or pictures, where the tough-guy pose clashes with the situation. Its charm comes from stacking several internet speech habits: the drawn-out interjection, the repeated “bg” at the end and the declaration of indifference.
