What does the “oo” meme mean?
The two o’s side by side look like wide-open eyes, or an open mouth. Depending on context they stand for surprise, embarrassment, curiosity or a silent “that was unexpected”. People post them after a reveal, a tense exchange or a strange photo, to react without a sentence. Their brevity makes them a chat reflex: quick to type, impossible to misread, and everyone sees the feeling that fits the moment. It is a bare emoticon, no emoji needed.
Where does the “oo” meme come from?
The text “oo” belongs to the family of typographic emoticons, faces drawn with characters well before emojis existed. Internet users turned it into a stand-alone reaction sign, reused in comment threads and chats. No single scene is attached to it: its spread rests on the simplicity of the sign and its instant readability, which lets it fit any situation.
