What does the “OUAAAAAAWWWRRRRR” meme mean?
The meme stands for raw excitement and total letting go, the moment words give way to a shout. The long spelling imitates a sound that rises and warps, halfway between a battle cry and a nervous laugh. People use it to celebrate a win, announce they are about to go wild, react to a surprise, or comment on someone who has fully lost the plot. The idea of going “freewheeling” sums it up: no filter, no brakes.
Where does the “OUAAAAAAWWWRRRRR” meme come from?
The clip shows Morgane Makeup in the studio, in the middle of a session, suddenly letting out a long guttural scream with no lyrics or melody. It belongs to the musical persona the creator has built on YouTube, where her songs and videos, in the rap and shatta styles, drew plenty of attention and reaction content. The scream was cut out of the session and reused as a sound, in short videos and as a comment. Its spelling, a string of stretched letters, makes it easy to type and share in chats.
