Users post these images to celebrate someone dressing up impeccably, to react to clumsy situations tackled with unexpected dignity, or simply to marvel at animals appearing perpetually ready for a gala.
Where does the “Penguins” meme come from?
While cataloged around 2006, the meme holds an unspecified origin without a single verified founder or breakout platform. Global interest surged alongside mainstream cinema hits such as March of the Penguins in 2005 and Happy Feet in 2006. An early piece of viral media appeared on YouTube on May 27, 2006, when user maxsux uploaded an energetic jumping penguin clip set to fast music.
