“Sors de ma chambre” meme: meaning, origin and common card

What does the “Sors de ma chambre” meme mean?

The line sums up a scene every French viewer knows: a teenager locked behind a door and the show's host walking in to talk. It works as a jokey way to shoo someone out of your space, to dodge a serious talk, or to mock a family argument that is getting out of hand. The humour comes from the contrast between a furious teen and a calm presenter. Among friends it is also a playful answer to anyone who walks in without knocking.

Where does the “Sors de ma chambre” meme come from?

The card points to Pascal, le grand frère, a French TV programme that aired on TF1 in late-night slots from January 2006 to July 2013, hosted by Pascal Soetens. A separate version ran on NT1, and the show returned on C8 on 25 October 2017 with Soetens back as host. Julien Courbet's company produces it. On YouTube, clips carry titles such as “Pascal le grand frère retourne le lit” or “SOS, ma famille a besoin d'aide”, showing overwhelmed parents and young people who shut themselves in their rooms. Viewers cut, captioned and remixed those scenes until the phrase became a reusable meme line.
