What does the “Tout Le Monde Connait Fortnite” meme mean?
The emotion is exasperation at a cultural phenomenon becoming overwhelming. This format is used to highlight how a topic has become mundane or so present it becomes absurd. The phrase 'Fortnite doesn't know Fortnite' plays on oxymoron: how could a gaming giant be unaware of its own success? It mockingly suggests everyone talks about it, except perhaps those involved.
Where does the “Tout Le Monde Connait Fortnite” meme come from?
Reliable sources indicate that the exact origin of this specific video or quote remains unknown. No creator, initial platform, or precise date could be identified with certainty. However, the historical context is clear: in 2018, Fortnite was perceived as a massive global phenomenon. Newspapers like Le Monde and Sud Ouest reported that the game dominated YouTube and Twitch. The expression 'everyone plays Fortnite' was already circulating as a joke about its ubiquity. The meme likely borrows this journalistic rhetoric to create an absurd contrast between shared general knowledge and the game's supposed blindness to its own success.
