“Un morceau d'Emmental” meme: meaning, origin and common card

What does the “Un morceau d'Emmental” meme mean?

The meme expresses absurd devotion to an ordinary food, here a plain piece of Emmental, sung with operatic seriousness. People use it in front of a cheese board, to voice a snack craving, or to answer someone who talks too much about their favourite dish. The catchy refrain suits edits and loops. The card keeps that tone of naive celebration: Emmental is treated like a star with no stake other than the joy of eating.

Where does the “Un morceau d'Emmental” meme come from?

The card points to a David Castello-Lopes video called “Un morceau d’emmental”, running 2 minutes 41, which the game text describes as an ode to a cheese dear to David. Several reuploads exist on YouTube: a 25-second extract, a version with unofficial lyrics, a one-hour loop posted by the channel Wazer, and a nearby video asking whether Emmental is a bad cheese. The date of the original upload does not appear in the results checked. Repeating one short verse, easy given the clip’s brevity, explains its success as a musical meme.
