FRANÇOIS DAMIENS - "Vous voulez mourir Bramard ?" - (2006) (TU VEUX LA DÉMOCRATIE OUI OU NON ?)In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Vous voulez mourir Bramard” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 5366 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Vous voulez mourir Bramard” meme mean?
The meme uses an over-the-top warning to make a situation sound absurdly dangerous. Its dramatic question and list of consequences can be adapted to joke about the supposed fallout from a choice or behaviour. In the original scene, the warning concerns chickens and Hubert’s decision to keep them. The tone is deliberately farcical, not a realistic threat.
Where does the “Vous voulez mourir Bramard” meme come from?
The line comes from the 2006 film OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies. In the scene, Raymond Pelletier, played by François Damiens, addresses Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, also known as OSS 117 and played by Jean Dujardin. Pelletier calls him “Bramard” and asks whether he wants to end up like the chickens, then describes their fate in an intentionally comic warning. Hubert replies that he would accept that outcome if it meant keeping his hens. The exchange gets its humour from the contrast between Pelletier’s dramatic warning and Hubert’s unexpected answer. The available source does not establish when or on which platform the line became a meme.
