What does the “Vzy gaz le big show gaz” meme mean?
“Vzy” is a contraction of “vas-y” (“go on”), and “gaze” comes from the slang verb “gazer”, meaning to leave quickly or clear off. The sentence is thus an order to get lost, delivered with brash confidence and a comic hint of provocation. People use it to send away someone annoying, to cut a conversation short, or to fake an authority they do not have. The nickname “big show” sets the tone: theatrical, deliberately over the top.
Where does the “Vzy gaz le big show gaz” meme come from?
A viral snap shows Boucif telling a police officer of imposing build to “gazer”. The short Snapchat video spread across social networks through screenshots and shares, and its line detached from the scene to become a catchphrase. The comedy comes from the boldness of the tone and the gap between the slang formula and the person addressed. The meme lives mostly through sound reuse and imitations between friends.
