“Allez, là-bas ! Là-bas ! Dans la cuisine ! Là-bas !” meme: meaning, origin and common card

What does the “Allez, là-bas ! Là-bas ! Dans la cuisine ! Là-bas !” meme mean?

The phrase works by repetition: the same command, “over there”, is hammered four times, as if the person being addressed were moving too slowly. The dominant feeling is amused irritation, with a touch of sympathy for the victim, hence the comment “Poor Madge”. People use it to imitate a parent, a boss or a friend who keeps issuing instructions, or to joke about a household chore being imposed on them. It suits irony and reading aloud.

Where does the “Allez, là-bas ! Là-bas ! Dans la cuisine ! Là-bas !” meme come from?

The card sums the meme up in two parts: the line itself, “Allez, là-bas ! Là-bas ! Dans la cuisine ! Là-bas !”, which roughly means “Go on, over there, into the kitchen, over there!”, and the caption “Poor Madge”, which points at the person receiving the orders. Madge is the name that anchors the joke. The expression spread through repetition, each reuse exaggerating the impatient tone a little more.
