In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Twinky coming down” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 2638 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3511 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Twinky coming down” meme mean?
The joke is the clash between childhood and chaos. The Teletubbies stand for softness and constant good mood, so seeing them neurotic and unstable tips that image into funny discomfort. It is used to say you are exhausted, on edge, wrung out after a long day or a never-ending night, with the cheerful front gone. It also works as a self-mocking caption for a face the morning after a big wave of tiredness.
Where does the “Twinky coming down” meme come from?
The meme starts from the Teletubbies, a British children’s series on air since 1997 whose bright heroes, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po, live in a green-hills setting and repeat simple phrases. On French-speaking social media, users imagined a trashy reading of these characters: unstable, jumpy, deeply worn down. Twinky, a casual twist on Tinky Winky, is the most quoted of them. The format follows a familiar nostalgia pattern: take a comforting childhood memory and turn it into its exact opposite.
