Anchor Marcos Martínez Soriano was freely commenting on his work and colleagues, including Joaquín López-Dóriga and Carlos Loret de Mola. He was completely unaware that the microphones were active and the show was already airing on television. When a colleague signaled he was live, he suddenly realized his mistake. He exclaimed: “¿Ya estamos al aire? ¡Avísenme! Estaba yo diciendo maldiciones”, which translates to “Are we on air yet? Let me know! I was swearing.” The video then circulated massively online, becoming one of the most notable Mexican memes of 2015. Although the exact platform of the first upload remains unknown, its initial TV broadcast catalyzed its viral success among Spanish-speaking audiences.
