In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “C’est trop calme, j’aime pas trop beaucoup ça” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1368 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3514 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “C’est trop calme, j’aime pas trop beaucoup ça” meme mean?
The line mocks deliberately tangled speech: “pas trop beaucoup”, “un peu trop plus moins”. The quantifiers cancel each other out, so the statement means nothing precise while sounding perfectly serious. People use it when silence turns heavy, when a room is too quiet, or to ask for more energy with a smile. It is also a way to parody someone who talks without saying anything or gets lost in their own phrasing, a bit of comedy-film chatter that became a cult quote.
Where does the “C’est trop calme, j’aime pas trop beaucoup ça” meme come from?
The quote comes from the comedy Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, directed by Alain Chabat and released in France on 30 January 2002. In the film, Jamel Debbouze plays Numérobis, the Egyptian architect hired to build a palace for the queen, and the line is linked to him in clips circulating on YouTube. Several channels post the sequence under the title “C’est trop calme, j’aime pas trop beaucoup ça. J’préfère quand c’est un peu trop plus moins calme”, a sign of its status as a cult line.
