What does the “Chicken Tetrazzini” meme mean?
This meme highlights the total illogical nature of certain relationship justifications. It contrasts the supposed seriousness of betrayal with the banality of the alleged cause. People use it to laugh at romantic rivalries or breakups where the stated reason seems fabricated or ridiculously minor compared to actual emotions.
Where does the “Chicken Tetrazzini” meme come from?
The phenomenon stems from an episode of the American talk show Maury Povich, aired around 2009. A contestant named Alycia accused her boyfriend Paul of cheating on her with her best friend Dominique. She claimed Paul gave in to Dominique’s advances solely because she made better Chicken Tetrazzini than she did. The video was uploaded to YouTube on April 13, 2009, titled “Chicken Tetrazzini – The ORIGINAL!!!”. It later circulated on the TV show The Soup. Although one source mentions a 2007 broadcast, the exact air date of the original Maury episode remains uncertain. The story quickly became an internet classic due to its completely disconnected logic.
