Where does the “Chris P. Bacon” meme come from?
The piglet, named Chris P. Bacon, was born in Florida in January 2013 with a congenital malformation preventing the use of his hind limbs. Dr. Len Lucero, a veterinarian at Eastside Veterinary Hospital in Clermont, chose to treat the animal rather than euthanize it. Inspired by his son’s K’nex toys, he crafted a miniature wheelchair to help the animal move around. The original video, titled “Pig in a Wheelchair,” was filmed by the doctor and uploaded to YouTube on January 27, 2013. Initially intended to show the animal’s progress to his family, it quickly went viral.
