In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Cigarette Christine” is an epic card of the Memes FR pack, number 2604 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3502 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Cigarette Christine” meme mean?
The line is funny because of its nerve: a famous name is butchered without hesitation, and the slide from “Christie” to “Christine”, cigarette included, ends up absurd and memorable. It captures the comedy of approximation, the ironic admiration for a speaker working without a net, and the complicity of those who recognize the source. People use it to tease a half-remembered name, to nickname an author or character they do not really know, or to signal to their group that they know the video.
Where does the “Cigarette Christine” meme come from?
GT Gabi is a French-speaking web personality active on YouTube and Twitch, whose clips are regularly compiled by fan channels. One sequence shows him presenting a game based on Agatha Christie, the British novelist famous for her detective stories. During the presentation, the author’s name turns into “Cigarette Christine”, a phrase that detached from the video and spread as a quote. Another clip, titled “la réhabilitation d’Agatha Christie”, circulates in the same compilations. Reused in comments, screenshots and voice messages, the phrase has become a wink between fans of that catalog of cult moments.
