In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “En mode enflure” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 666 of the collection, and the 205th best-known meme of its 638 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “En mode enflure” meme mean?
It mocks performed confidence, usually your own. Posting that face after a small win, a fresh haircut or a line you are a bit too proud of is a way of handing yourself an award with a straight face. It also works as teasing, aimed at a friend who thinks he is a smooth talker. The sloppy French spelling and the trailing winking emoticon are part of the quote: tidy either of them up and the reference falls flat.
Where does the “En mode enflure” meme come from?
The line has been circulating on X since late 2018. The account @mastuu_ posted “Tension les filles je passe en mode enflure ;)” on 31 December 2018 — 1 January 2019 in French local time — and that remains the oldest dated instance anyone can point to. French meme archive accounts carried the selfie onwards: “Le répertoire à meme” in February 2021, “Banque de memes” in January 2022, followed by reaction-image collections. The sentence slowly came loose from the picture, turning up as a YouTube video title and in TikTok searches with no image attached, which is how a caption becomes a catchphrase. The person in the selfie has never been publicly identified.
