What does the “Facebomb” meme mean?

By replacing individual identities with one expression, it highlights the ridiculousness of a situation where everyone reacts the same way. The goal is comedic, relying on visual shock and mechanical repetition that distorts the original context.
Where does the “Facebomb” meme come from?
The technique dates back to 2007 on 4chan, linked to Weegee meme edits. These images overlaid the face of Luigi from Mario Is Missing (1992) onto various characters. The term 'Facebomb' later broadened this practice to any cloned face. A notable example was posted on December 1, 2009, on the blog Nic Cage as Everyone: the Seinfeld cast saw all actors replaced by Nicolas Cage. The format spread on Reddit and Tumblr between 2010 and 2012. The exact author of the first edit remains unknown.
