Claude François, nicknamed Cloclo, was born on 1 February 1939 in Ismailia, Egypt, and died on 11 March 1978 in Paris. A singer, dancer and producer, he defined the 1960s and 1970s with “Comme d’habitude” (1967), a worldwide hit known in English as “My Way”, and “Alexandrie Alexandra” (1977). His concerts, notably at the Olympia, set off mass hysteria, and his dancers, the Claudettes, moved in sync with him.
