What does the “Alkpote at Dr de Amorim’s” meme mean?
The meme rests on a reversal: the person meant to heal ends up in the consultation chair. It is used to say that a conversation has rubbed off on the other side, that a professional got “contaminated” by the person in front of them, or that a session turned absurd. The contrast between the serious setting of a practice and the rapper’s provocative style makes it funny. In a comment it sums up the idea that even the steadiest person can tip over too.
Where does the “Alkpote at Dr de Amorim’s” meme come from?
The meme comes from a consultation scene in which rapper Alkpote meets the psy Fernando de Amorim. Alkpote, real name Atef Kahlaoui, was born in 1981 in Paris, grew up in Évry and has released albums since 2008, with a provocative, deliberately crude style that is part of his persona. At the end of the exchange, it is Dr de Amorim who goes to consult in turn, which gives the scene its edge. Clips circulate on YouTube, and the line is reused as a caption to joke about reversed roles.
