Where does the “Formation tortue” meme come from?
The turtle formation is a well-documented ancient military tactic, where soldiers packed into a tight formation shelter behind their shields to advance or withstand enemy fire. In France, this image was widely popularized by the film Asterix at the Olympic Games, released in 2008, which features Roman legionaries using this tactic in a memorable comic scene.
