What does the “zevent bomb donation meme” meme mean?
In Zevent’s chat, “dropping a bomb” has nothing to do with real violence: it describes a spectacular move, usually a generous donation or a coordinated viewer push, that suddenly spikes the on-screen donation counter. Viewers use it as a joke right before a big donation lands, to build collective suspense in chat, or afterward to comment on a sudden jump in the total. The word “bomb” plays on the image of an explosion of generosity rather than an actual threat.
Where does the “zevent bomb donation meme” meme come from?
Zevent is a French-language charity event held since 2016, created by streamers ZeratoR and Dach, bringing together French-speaking creators on Twitch to raise donations for various charities. Since 2019 it has held the record for the highest-grossing charity event on the platform, with live donation counters watched by hundreds of thousands of viewers. That competitive, celebratory atmosphere, where every spectacular donation triggers a chat reaction, gave rise within the French-speaking Twitch community to exaggerated phrases like “I’m dropping a bomb,” used to announce or celebrate a donation that makes the counter jump during the broadcast.
