“Confessions intimes” is a French reality TV show that aired on TF1 from 3 January 2001 and later on NT1, in which each protagonist confides to the camera before a therapist steps in. In one episode, a man nicknamed Fredo Mercure presents himself as an absolute fan of Freddie Mercury and puts him before his family. He sings and loses his temper when his son talks to him in the meantime: the scene shows him slapping the boy while repeating “je répète”. Clips circulated under titles such as “Concessions infimes – je ne vis que pour Freddy” and were reused in parody edits of the YTP kind.
