Where does the “Google Poetry” meme come from?
The phenomenon is documented by the Tumblr blog 'Google Poetics', launched on October 25, 2012, by Finnish poet Sampsa Nuotio and Rasia Omaamheimo. Their first post utilized suggestions from the query 'why do you'. The project collected screenshots sent by the community to present them as poems formed by the algorithm. Popularization accelerated thanks to a Gizmodo article published on November 8, 2012, which described the Tumblr as a collection of automatically generated stanzas. Reddit also served as a sharing platform, although the exact date of the first relevant post there remains unknown.
