In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Illuminati” is a common card of the Memes World series 69, number 20482 of the collection, and the 43rd best-known meme of its 112 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Illuminati” meme mean?
The joke parodies conspiratorial reasoning: any triangular shape counts as evidence, and the conclusion arrives before the examination. Posting it mocks the method of linking anything to anything rather than one particular belief. The chosen motif, the eye above the unfinished pyramid on the one-dollar bill, is the most instantly recognisable image attached to the subject. The format also works as a flag that a coincidence is being treated as a demonstration in an argument.
Where does the “Illuminati” meme come from?
The Bavarian Illuminati was a real society founded on 1 May 1776 by Adam Weishaupt. A Bavarian government edict dated 2 March 1785 shut it down, and the seized documents were published in 1787. Modern conspiracy theories nonetheless claim the group survives and steers world events; Wikipedia notes it appears in dozens of novels, films, television shows, comics, video games and music videos. The same source records that the Eye of Providence, as seen on the US one-dollar bill, has been read by some as evidence tying the Founding Fathers to the society. That visual element is what the meme borrows, stripped of any serious claim.

Did the Illuminati really exist?
Yes, as a society founded on 1 May 1776 in Bavaria by Adam Weishaupt. An edict of 2 March 1785 ended it and the seized papers were published in 1787. The modern continuation belongs to popular culture.
Why the eye from the dollar bill?
