Where does the “Intelligent, Nihilistic and with a Wicked Sense of Humor” meme come from?
The phrase originates from an anonymous thread posted on July 23, 2014, on the /v/ (video games) board of 4chan. A user was answering a question asking which video game character resembled them. They chose Kefka, the antagonist of Final Fantasy VI (1994), writing: “For me it’s Kefka – intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor.” The quote quickly became a copypasta. Internet users adopted the structure to attribute these traits to themselves or other characters, such as the Joker or those from Max Payne and Fallout: New Vegas.
