In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Je l'ai entendu faire prout” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 1852 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3511 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Je l'ai entendu faire prout” meme mean?
The line mocks a tough talker who folds at the first sign of pressure. Saying someone “went prout” means they backed down, told with a hint of comic bragging. People use it to tease a braggart who gives up, a gamer who bails at the last second, or a rival who boasts and then disappears. The tone is deliberately theatrical and exaggerated.
Where does the “Je l'ai entendu faire prout” meme come from?
The phrase comes from a clip in which Alain Soral, an essayist and actor born in 1958, recounts a run-in with Frédéric Beigbeder and closes it with an image: the other man supposedly let out a “prout”. The clip was reposted by several sound and compilation channels under titles like “Soral: Je l’ai entendu faire prout”, which turned the story’s punchline into a stand-alone quote. The card notes it is now used for someone who chickens out. The meme isolates the comic ending and detaches it from its original setting.
