What does the “Je prépare des aiguillettes de poulet” meme mean?
The phrase is used to comment, ironically, on a meal announcement filmed as if it were a major event when the recipe itself stays completely ordinary. It works as a caption for a home-cooking video or photo, to gently mock one’s own excitement over a simple dish, or to reply to someone presenting a basic meal with disproportionate seriousness. The humor comes from the contrast between the solemn tone of the announcement and how mundane the dish actually is.
Where does the “Je prépare des aiguillettes de poulet” meme come from?
The phrase circulates in short videos where someone announces preparing a simple dish, chicken tenders, with a tone and staging that deliberately contrast with how ordinary the cooking actually is. This kind of format, where an everyday action is filmed like an event, is common on short-video platforms, where the comic effect comes precisely from the gap between the solemn presentation and the simplicity of what is being shown. The phrase later detached from its original video to become a standalone quote, reused to comment on any food announcement filmed with excessive seriousness.
