What does the “Je suis poli, je suis correct” meme mean?
The joke rests on contrast. The speaker presents himself as a model of courtesy, yet delivers the line with great confidence, sometimes with irritation, and the long-drawn greeting turns basic manners into a personal achievement. People post it to tease themselves or a friend who wants credit for simply being decent, or to answer a complaint about rudeness with mock dignity.
Where does the “Je suis poli, je suis correct” meme come from?
The card quotes the French line “Je suis poli, je suis correct” together with the caption “Je dit bonjouuur”, deliberately ungrammatical in its verb form. It circulates among French speakers as a captioned image, a clip and a sound, used in chats and comments to stage a loudly claimed politeness. The humour lies in the delivery rather than in one specific scene: a measured voice, a stretched hello and exaggerated pride.
