The card extends the joke with “Montreal's Leaning Tower of Pisa”, picturing a tilted, wonky character from Quebec. The meme is used to label a hopeless artist, to introduce a bad singer with mock reverence, or to tease a friend whose stage name is accidentally silly. It belongs to the absurd humor of French TV parodies.
Where does the “Jean Michel Nulengéo” meme come from?
The name appears in a video titled “Kad et Olivier Ze méga compil'” of fake singers, alongside Jean Michel Amoitié, Mangemicro, Chantepa, Malsapé or Fotdefrape, all pun names. Kad Merad and Olivier Baroux launched their radio show Rock'n Roll Circus on 12 March 1992, built on sketches with recurring characters, before hosting segments on Jean-Luc Delarue's TV shows. Their humor rests on absurdity and running gags. Those singer characters kept circulating in compilation videos, hence the meme.
