In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Jeff Tuche” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 848 of the collection, and the 464th best-known meme of its 869 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Jeff Tuche” meme mean?
The character stands for a very specific figure: the head of the family, thrifty to the point of absurdity, sure of his own common sense and perfectly comfortable everywhere, including where he does not belong. People use him to tease a parent who switches the lights off behind everyone, to own a frankly unfashionable taste, or to comment on a loud group arriving somewhere smart. The card carries the character himself rather than a single line, because that is the name players quote.
Where does the “Jeff Tuche” meme come from?
Jeff Tuche appears in Les Tuche, directed by Olivier Baroux and released in 2011, where he heads a family from northern France thrown into another world by a lottery win. Jean-Paul Rouve plays the part, and the film’s success produced several sequels, which settled the character and his expressions into colloquial French for good. The clip kept as the card’s source is still online; the video search run for this card returned six relevant results out of six, the first past two hundred thousand views, confirming that the character travels on his own. This article gives no dates for the sequels, having been unable to verify them.
